Thailand’s Disease Control Department’s Director-General, Dr. Suwanchai Wattanayingcharoenchai, said yesterday that the Japanese man, who returned home from Thailand on August 8th and who tested positive upon arrival at Haneda Airport in Tokyo, has tested negative in a RT-PCR test conducted by a hospital in Japan on August 14th.
Dr. Suwanchai urged Thai people to keep wearing face masks in public, wash their hands regularly and maintain social distancing, despite there not having been a single case of locally acquired infection in over two months.
He also asked Thai people to have faith in the country’s healthcare infrastructure.
