The Thai Embassy in Nepal has suspended its services following violent unrest, during which protesters set fire to parliament and forced the prime minister to resign, marking the worst protests in the Himalayan nation of 30 million people in two decades.
In a Facebook post, the Thai Embassy in Kathmandu announced that, due to a curfew imposed by Nepali authorities from 8.30am today, its consular services will remain closed until further notice.
Meanwhile, Thai Airways International (THAI) has cancelled today’s flights between Bangkok and the Nepali capital:
· Flight TG309 Bangkok – Kathmandu (STD: 20.20 – 22.30 local time)
· Flight TG310 Kathmandu – Bangkok (STD: 23.30 local time – 04.15 the next day)

Nepali soldiers are patrolling the streets of Kathmandu today, seeking to restore order.
Protests began on Monday in the Nepali capital against the government's ban on social media and corruption, but they escalated into an outpouring of rage nationwide, with government buildings being set on fire after a deadly crackdown claimed at least 19 lives.
The rapid descent into chaos has shocked many and Nepal's military warned against "activities that could lead the country into unrest and instability."
