Thailand’s Office of the Narcotics Control Board has put six cats, seized during an illicit drugs raid last month, up for auction.
Secretary-General of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board, Wichai Chaimongkol, explained that the felines were confiscated, along with other assets, during the arrest of a suspect charged with involvement in an illegal narcotic trafficking network, allegedly run by Soradet Sonsiri, also known as “Kook Rayong”.
He explained that the pets are considered to be living assets, which cannot be kept by the government, so the office has put them up for auction.
The auction will begin today at 2pm, at the district office in Tang Kwien sub-district, in the Klaeng district of Rayong province. Proceeds from the auction will go to the Narcotics Control Fund, which is used to solve drug trafficking issues.
