The Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara, in Türkiye, is urgently coordinating with relevant agencies in Georgia to locate a popular Thai travel YouTuber who has gone missing after travelling alone to produce content in the country, according to his family.
On July 28, a Facebook user, identified as ‘Klose Mos’, who claims to be the elder brother of 27-year-old Bowontat Pengsook, widely known online as ‘Hlun Solo’, shared an urgent missing person appeal on social media.
He stated that his family had lost all contact with Bowontat, since he embarked on a solo content-creation trip to Georgia on July 13.
The family last spoke with Bowontat on July 13, after which all communication via phone and online channels abruptly stopped. His relatives, particularly his grandmother who raised him, are deeply anxious about his safety and desperate for news confirming his well-being.
In a recent Facebook Story update, his brother confirmed that the Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara, which handles Thailand’s diplomatic and consular matters in Georgia, is actively coordinating with local authorities to track down the missing vlogger.
He expressed sincere gratitude to the public and officials across all channels for their swift and warm support and the family is urging social media users to share only verified information originating directly from family members or official sources.
They request that the public refrain from spreading unverified news, unsourced claims or rumours, warning that false information could create widespread confusion, disrupt official search operations and cause emotional distress to the family.
Anyone with reliable information or potential clues regarding Bowontat's whereabouts is urged to contact the family or officials immediately.
The family added a heartfelt message thanking everyone for their ongoing moral support and efforts to help bring him home safely.
A native of Somdet district in Kalasin province, Bowontat is a well-known backpacker who has built a massive following by documenting his budget-friendly solo journeys around the globe.
Having saved money while studying and working to pursue his dream of international travel, he has amassed over 2.5 million followers on Facebook and more than 900,000 subscribers on YouTube.
