More than 1,700 people of 17 nationalities have applied to come to Thailand for medical treatment under medical and wellness programs, said CCSA spokesman Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin on Friday.
Under the admission program, the visitors must:
- Have obtained a certificate of entry (COE) from Thai embassies or consular offices in their countries
- Be cleared of COVID-19 infection in their home countries and take a second test on arrival in Thailand
- Enter treatment at a designated private or state hospital, where they have a formal agreement for treatment
- Be quarantined at the designated hospital for 14 days, even if their treatment is completed sooner
- Be subjected to a further coronavirus test before departure
Dr. Taweesin said that each foreign patient can be accompanied by three companions, who must also obtain COE’s from Thai embassies or consular offices before departing for Thailand.
After completion of the planned treatment and 14-day isolation, he said that the visitors may travel anywhere in Thailand and tour packages can be arranged.
Foreign nationals, planning to come to Thailand for medical services, include 478 from Myanmar, 477 from Cambodia, 69 from China, 95 from Qatar, 14 from Saudi Arabia, 187 from Oman, 137 from Kuwait and 223 from the United Arab Emirates.
Dr. Taweesin said that the next step will be admitting tourists under travel bubble tourism arrangements.
