Japanese police have been trying to locate a female Thai student, who was reported by her Thai friends to have been missing since last Friday.
The 30-year-old student, Pornsawan Pongsawat, who is studying her PhD at Miyazaki University, was last seen by her Thai friends at her hostel in Miyazaki at about 10am on January 23rd, when they took her something as she was heading for the university. She could also still be contacted at 6am on January 24th.
According to an update on social media, a police search of her room in the hostel found some of her personal belongings, such as her Thai passport and her ID card for a foreigner residing in Japan, a smartphone and a tablet, some letters, as well a key in the mailbox of a friend at the same hostel.
The Miyazaki police have checked her belongings, but did not find any clues as to the cause of her disappearance. Police throughout Japan have been asked to help in the search for her.
