Heavy to very heavy rain is forecast from today (Sunday)until Tuesday for most parts of Thailand as a result of a high pressure cold front from China, which is expected to blanket the north-eastern region of the country and the South China Sea today, according to the Meteorological Department.
Compounded by the moderate southwestern monsoon, which is already covering Thailand, the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, this weather system will strengthen the winds and precipitation in the northern, north-eastern, central and eastern regions of the country as well as Bangkok and its neighbouring provinces.
The department also warned of possible flash flooding in vulnerable areas and advised people to avoid open fields orsheltering under large trees or close to bill boards, which may collapse. Farmers are also warned their crops may be damaged by flooding.
