The curfew will definitely be shortened, restrictions on inter-provincial travel will be further eased and road checkpoints will be cut when the CCSA committee, chaired by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, meets on Friday to discuss the third phase of lockdown relaxations, said CCSA spokesman Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin today.
In-bound and out-bound air travel will, however, remain restricted until the end of the state of emergency on June 30th, said National Security Council secretary-general General Somsak Rungsita.
He added that the CCSA will also consider whether to shorten the curfew hours.
Despite the slow-down of new COVID-19 infections, Dr. Taweesin said that the Ministry of Public Health is still not satisfied and wants an additional 100,000 tests to be conducted on groups deemed to be at high risk, such as medical professionals, those in jobs which expose them to contact with many people, prison guards, immigration officials and restaurant staff.
So far, 300,000 people at high risk of infection have been tested.
He said that inter-provincial travel will be further eased, except in some provinces still regarded as being at high risk.
