Former Deputy Attorney-General Nate Naksuk has been faulted for a mild disciplinary violation for his “honest decision” not to indict Red Bull heir Vorayuth Yoovidhya over the controversial hit-and-run incident back in 2012, in which a police officer was killed.
The five-member probe panel, set up a year ago to consider disciplinary action against Mr. Nate over his handling of the controversial case, reportedly found him guilty of faulty performance of his duty and recommended that he be deprived of pension and promotions for two years and should not be appointed as a senior prosecutor.
However, the panel’s ruling is not final and has to be submitted to the Prosecution Commission for consideration and debate.
In August last year, Mr. Nate submitted his resignation to the then attorney-general, purportedly to demonstrate his honesty in his handling of the case. He is still, however, subject to disciplinary investigation.
The fatal accident occurred on the night of September 3rd, 2012, when Vorayuth, driving a Ferrari, rammed into a motorcycle, driven by Pol Sgt-Maj Wichien Klanprasert of Thonglor police station. The case has dragged on and most of the charges were dropped or reached their statute of limitation, except the charge of reckless driving.
