Family members of freed Thai hostages will travel to Israel to accompany them home once their health is confirmed to be safe, Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa said yesterday.
Maris was speaking after arriving in Tel Aviv and meeting with five Thai nationals at Al-Shamir Medical Center.
“Your families will come here to visit you and accompany you home,” the minister said.
The hostages had been held in captivity in Gaza for 15 months before their release on January 30.
The minister said he was relieved to hear from the medical team that the five Thais were in good physical health and stable mental condition.
Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra also held a video call with the group, congratulating them on their safe return.
The freed hostages thanked the prime minister, the Thai Foreign Ministry, and the Thai Embassy in Tel Aviv for their efforts in securing their release.
The released hostages confirmed that they were in good health and had been under close medical care from Israeli doctors and have already communicated with their families in Thailand.
