Human rights lawyer Anont Nampa and political activist Phanupong Jaadnok were granted bail by the Ratchadapisek Criminal Court late this afternoon, after its approval of a police application for them to be remanded for a further 14-days.
The court set 100,000 baht bail for each of the two pro-democracy activists, as both are facing seven charges, including the incitement of public unrest, for their recent anti-government activities.
Two opposition Kao Klai MPs, Mr. Karom Ponpornklang and Mr. Pakornvuth Udompipatsakul, used their parliamentary status as bail surety for their release.
After his release, Mr. Anont told the media that he will not attend a rally, planned for this evening at the Pathumwan skywalk by the Free People movement, which has been demanding a new Constitution, dissolution of Parliament and an end to Government harassment of protesters.
He said that he had other political activities to tend to, but promised to join a mass rally planned for August 16th.
Supporters of the two activists have been rallying in front of the Ratchadapisek Criminal Court since Friday night, to offer moral support. They dispersed late this afternoon after they were both released on bail.
