The Thai Army has proposed sending Thai cadets to study at China’s Academy of Armoured Forces as part of efforts to strengthen military cooperation between the two countries.
The proposal was discussed at a meeting between Lt Gen Sorawut Chayabutra, chief of the Thai Army’s Intelligence Department, and Chinese military attaché to Thailand Maj Gen Zhang Linhong.
The two sides also discussed exchanging military curricula and expertise, allowing Thailand to adapt lessons learned to its own operational requirements and military context, according to the Army.
Other topics included the exchange of information on cyber and space affairs, the application of artificial intelligence (AI), the integration of data from border surveillance systems, and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology.
They also discussed sharing knowledge and experience in combating online crime and scam networks. Closer cooperation is expected to strengthen their operational capabilities.
The meeting also addressed the situation along the Thai-Cambodian border. China reiterated its neutral stance and support for efforts by Thailand and Cambodia to resolve their differences peacefully and by mutual agreement.
