The Central Shrimp Market in Samut Sakhon province, the epicenter of the latest COVID-19 outbreak in Thailand, will remain closed until at least February 15th.
The local administration in the province has ordered the extension of the closure until the hygiene at the market facilities and in the surrounding area is improved.
The order, issued by the province’s disease control committee, states that the structure and occupant density of the residential facilities in the area will also be inspected.
The market and the surrounding area will only be allowed to reopen when approval is granted by the local disease control board.
Anyone found guilty of violating the order will be sentenced to up to 1 year in prison or fined up to 100,000 THB or both.
