The Kao Klai Party is urging the Government to ease restrictions night entertainment businesses, so entertainers, such as singers, can get back to work.
Kao Klai party-list MPs, Pakornvuth Udompipatsakul and Tunyawach Kamonwongwat, told the media at Parliament on Thursday that the CCSA had eased restrictions on food shops, restaurants and hotels, allowing the sale of alcoholic drinks, but still bans live music at such premises, while allowing concerts to be held.
The two MPs say this has caused confusion among musicians, especially those who used to play in night entertainment venues, like pubs.
“Musicians are not COVID-19 carriers and they are not usually in close contact with the customers. Playing music is an honest profession and it makes people happy. Many of them have families to feed, have expenses and have debts to repay. Why are they being left behind, while other professionals are allowed to resume their work?” asked the two MPs.
Besides musicians, Mr. Tunyawach said that there are other night entertainment workers, including dancers, waiters and waitresses, who have been out of work for about three months now.
In the meantime, a group of independent musicians submitted a petition to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, also asking for an easing of restrictions on night entertainment venues.
The group claimed that there are about 100,000 musicians, and their families, who have been hard hit by the closure of their performance venues since mid-March, without knowing when they will be able to return to work.
