Future Forward party leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit has accused Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha of being the cause of political problems in Thailand, not the politicians who are being blamed by the Prime Minister.
He said today that the Prime Minister had accused politicians of stalling attempts to form the government and had threatened to resort to the “old method” to resolve the problems.
Thanathorn asked whether the “old method” meant another coup, adding that General Prayut did not deserve to lead the country if he retains the old mindset of resorting a coup just to resolve Palang Pracharat’s internal issues.
Thanathorn added that it was ironic that the Prime Minister accused politicians of causing the country’s political problems but, at the same time, brought them into the party to help form the government.
“The problem did not come from the fight for (cabinet) seats among the politicians, but from the NCPO (National Council for Peace and Order) holding on to power,” said Thanathorn.
The Future Forward party leader then blamed the framers of the Constitution for designing the charter in such a way that weakens political parties, enabling the junta to prolong its grip on power.
He also noted that the longer the formation of the government takes, the longer the unfettered special powers of Section 44 of the interim constitution can be wielded.
