New Economics party leader Mingkwan Sangsuwan reaffirmed today that his party will not join the pro-Prayut Palang Pracharat party in forming a coalition government due to political differences.
“I would like to reaffirm that, firstly, I hold no grudges against the Palang Pracharat party as we all are familiar with one another. Secondly, our political ideologies are different, hence, I stated from the start that we will not join (with the Palang Pracharat party). I hope I am clear today,” said Mr. Mingkwan.
Earlier, the party dismissed as groundless media reports that the party, Bhumjaitham party and a faction of the Democrat party had agreed to join the Palang Pracharat-led alliance.
Winning six constituency seats, according to unofficial poll results, the New Economics party has become the “kingmaker” in attempts to form a coalition government.
Meanwhile, New Economics deputy leader Supadich Arkartruek maintained that the party remains unified and will stick to its promises, adding “We have no cobras (defectors) among our prospective MPs.”
He dismissed as untrue a claim by a group of dissidents that the party is dominated by an outsider and is demanding the Election Commission investigates.
