Woman in custody after dead baby found in refrigerator

A woman has been taken into police custody for questioning today after the body of a two-year-old baby boy was found in a refrigerator in a house in Nonthaburi province.

Mueang district police and EMTs from the Ruam Katanyu foundation rushed to the house in Bangrak Pattana sub-district this morning, after they received a complaint from the grandmother of the house-owner claiming that her grandson had been missing since January 2nd and that rotten smell was emanating from the house.

The emergency services searched the house and found that the smell was coming from a refrigerator, in which they found a lifeless baby wrapped in a blanket and stuffed into a cotton bag.

A 25-year-old woman, only identified as “Koi”, who is reported to have been the last person seen with the baby alive, was taken into police custody. Claiming to be the girlfriend of the elderly woman’s son, she told the police that a friend of hers brought the baby for her to take care of temporarily, because she is addicted to drugs.

Koi claimed that, on January 2nd, as she was with the baby, she found ants in his eyes and on his hands and rice in his mouth, as she was waiting for the arrival of her boyfriend. She also said that she had placed the baby in a cotton bag.
