Three forest rangers were injured by a gaur in Buri Ram province on Friday evening.

Atthaphon Charoenchansa, head of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, said the incident took place at about 7pm. The rangers were patrolling in Dong Yai wildlife sanctuary, in Non Din Daeng district, when the gaur attacked them.

Watcharakorn Wichakam, 26, suffered a deep wound on the back of his right thigh, Charan Khieuram, 42, suffered bruises and chest pain and Sittisak Chimjan, 31, suffered chest pain.

After the attack was reported, another team of rangers travelled to the scene on foot to bring their injured colleagues out of the forest, as a rescue helicopter could not land in the area.

The wounded were expected to arrive at a hospital this afternoon.
