Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s wife has tested positive for the coronavirus, Canadian media reported.

They quoted her husband as announcing that Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, 44, came back from Europe with flu-like symptoms. She is feeling fine, and her symptoms are mild, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s office.

Following medical advice, the prime minister’s wife is remaining in isolation for the time being.

The statement said she is taking all the recommended precautions and her symptoms remain mild.

It says the Prime Minister Trudeau is in good health with no symptoms.

Trudeau announced earlier Thursday that he would be in isolation and working from home after his wife showed mild flu-like symptoms.

Canadian media reported that Gregoire Trudeau thanked people who have reached out to her.

“Although I’m experiencing uncomfortable symptoms of the virus, I will be back on my feet soon,” she said in a statement.

“Being in quarantine at home is nothing compared to other Canadian families who might be going through this and for those facing more serious health concerns,” she said.

She urged people to share the facts and take their health seriously.

Canada has more than 100 confirmed coronavirus cases and at least one death. One of the latest patients is a baby boy who was in close contact with an infected person at a Toronto hospital, according to The Toronto Star.
