Why first-time voters are important

The last time Thai people went to the poll was back in 2011. In this upcoming election, out of a population of 66 million, 51 million will be eligible to vote. Among them will be close to 6.5 million first-time voters (those who are 18 and above).
That explains why many of the political parties and candidates have been particularly active on the social media to try to reach these young voters. Some have even crafted platforms that they hope will attract the youth votes, like ending military conscription.
