The man, whose image went viral in Thailand because of his resemblance to Keanu Reeves in a John Wick costume, has been identified as Andreas, a German national.
His Thai wife, Kanchalee Promma, nicknamed her husband “Mr. Woonsen” (glass noodle).
Dubbed ‘Thailand’s John Wick’, video clips of him washing dishes, making o-liang (Thai coffee) and grilling squid have garnered over 6 million views on Kanchalee’s TikTok account, Tuktiklife.
She told television news program ‘Rueng Lao Chao Nee’ on Sunday that they met online four years ago and have since married.
They now travel back and forth, dividing their time between Thailand and Germany.
Originally blonde, Andreas started dyeing his hair in February this year, to resemble the hitman, for a carnival in Germany.
“At that time, I was shocked and surprised that my husband really looks like Reeves. We’ve been doing it ever since,” Kanchalee said.
In Germany, her husband became well-known for his resemblance to the film star, with many people asking to take photos and selfies with him.
It wasn’t until a television station requested an interview with him that he was hired to appear at various functions as a Reeves lookalike.
“In Thailand, we can’t really go anywhere without people coming up to him asking to take pictures,” she said.
She also mentioned that Andreas is very happy that people enjoy his video clips and is fine with people asking to take selfies with him.
They will soon be returning to Germany.
