The Immigration Department has deployed the automatic passport control gate system (Autogate) at Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat immigration gates from August 1^st, 2023 and at Da Nang and Cam Ranh passport control. Auto gates will also be used at Phu Quoc from August 15^th, 2023, according to the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam.

Vietnamese citizens can use Autogate to enter the country. Vietnamese citizens using passports without electronic chips need to complete the registration procedure before using Autogate to enter the country. Vietnamese citizens using passports with electronic chips do not have complete the registration procedure.

Foreigners who have a temporary or permanent residence card, issued by a competent Vietnamese agency, can register to use Autogate on departure. Foreigners in this category must apply for registration to use Autogate.
