Police considering legal action against protest leaders over Skywalk demonstrations - Thai PBS World Tonight [10th February 2021]

Pathumwan district police have been gathering evidence to support charges of violations of the Emergency Decree and the Communicable Disease Control Act against anti-establishments protesters who demonstrated at the Pathumwan skywalk in Bangkok on Tuesday evening, to protest against the detention of four Ratsadon leaders in the capital’s remand prison, as ordered by the Criminal Court.

The court denied bail to the four defendants, Parit “Penguin” Chiwarak, Anond Nampa, Somyot Prueksa-kasemsook and Patiwat Saraiyaem, on the grounds that they are repeat offenders and that they may offend again if they are released.

The four were indicted by the public prosecutors on lèse majesté and several other charges, including inciting unrest.

After the court’s decision, the United Front for Thammasat and Demonstration, which is affiliated with the Ratsadon group, used social media to urge supporters to gather at the Pathumwan skywalk.
