The Meteorological Department warned today that the heat indices in Bang Na district of Bangkok, Laem Chabang in Chon Buri province and Phuket tomorrow (Friday) will exceed 54^oC, which dangerously hot.

The department says that extended exposure to suche heat can lead to heat stroke, cramp in the legs, stomach, shoulders and heat fatigue.

The heat indices in Phetchabun in the North and in Kosum Phisai district of Maha Sarakham are forecast to be 48.1^oC and 44.5^oC respectively.

The heat index, also known as the “apparent temperature”, is what the temperature feels like to the human body, when relative humidity is combined with the air temperature. This has important implications for the human body and its comfort.
