Various protest groups gather at four locations in Bangkok on Thursday

Bangkok police are advising motorists to avoid roads in four locations where people are protesting.

The first location is in front of the Ministry of Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives on Ratchadamnoen Nok Road, where a group of farmers is protesting and is likely to camp overnight. This will block traffic on the parallel road in front of the ministry.

The second location is in front of the Russian Embassy, on Sap Road, where the so-called “People’s Council of the World” and Ukrainians living in Thailand are gathering to protest against the Russian war in Ukraine.

The third involves roads around the Victory Monument, where a protest is expected to start at 3pm. Another protest is due to start at 4pm, at the Bangkok Arts and Culture Centre at the Pathumwan intersection in downtown Bangkok.

The Metropolitan Police Bureau said it has deployed additional traffic police to the four locations, to facilitate traffic flow and make sure that the rallies have the least impact to motorists and commuters as possible.

Additional information about alternative routes can be obtained from the traffic control centre by calling 1197 around the clock.
