Turn off the lights for “Earth Hour” tomorrow : Bangkok Governor

The Bangkok governor has urged the Thai public to join the “Earth Hour” campaign by switching off lights for one hour tomorrow.

Chadchart Sittipunt said the World Wide Fund for Nature campaign has set March 23 as the day people worldwide turn off their lights to help reduce the impacts of climate change.

People in 7,000 cities in 190 countries are expected to take part. In Thailand, the hour starts at 8:30pm.

According to the Earth Hour website, over 410,000 hours were “given to the planet” by supporters in over 190 countries and territories last year. “This year, join us in making the #BiggestHourForEarth even bigger by spending 60 minutes doing good for the planet while doing something you love!,” reads the message.
