Tropical storm Talim to bring more rain to Thailand from Wednesday

Tropical storm Talim is forecast to make landfall in northern Vietnam by Wednesday and is likely to bring more rain, with isolated heavy to very heavy downfalls in northern, north-eastern, eastern, southern and central Thailand, including Bangkok, according to the Meteorological Department.

People living along natural waterways and at the bases of hills are advised to brace for possible flash floods and overflows.

The storm is currently in the South China Sea and is gradually moving west towards China’s Hainan Island.

Strong winds and high waves are anticipated in the Andaman Sea and northern Gulf of Thailand during the period, with 2-4 metres high waves and more than 4-metre waves in stormy areas.

All ships are advised to exercise caution and to avoid stormy areas. Small vessels are advised to remain ashore.

60% of Bangkok and its vicinity are forecast to see rain until Monday, while rain is predicted along 70% the south-western coast, 60% of the south-eastern coast, 60% of eastern and central Thailand. 70% of the northeast and 60% of the north.
