The Thai cabinet has set aside 153.03 million baht, from the Central Fund, to fund the “Maha Songkran World Water Festival 2025” at Sanam Luang from April 11 to 15.
Government spokesman Jirayu Huangsap said that the five days of traditional Thai New Year celebrations were proposed by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).
93.26 million baht will be spent on the fun activities at Sanam Luang, 48 million baht on the procession and parade and 11.77 million baht on a publicity campaign, on top of the 40 million baht being spent by the TAT.
The Ministry of Tourism and Sports estimates that the Sanam Luang event will generate 3.2 billion baht in revenue and will attract about 800,000 Thais and foreign visitors.
