The Ministry of Transport will open the Bang Pa-in to Pak Chong section of Intercity Motorway No. 6 (M6) for free trial runs every weekend, starting at noon tomorrow.
The newly extended 110-kilometre stretch will operate from 12pm on Fridays through midnight on Sundays. It seamlessly connects with the previously opened Pak Chong–Nakhon Ratchasima bypass section, offering a continuous travel alternative for motorists heading to the Northeast over the weekend.
The entire M6 project spans 196 kilometres, from Bang Pa-in to Nakhon Ratchasima.
Designed as a key alternative route, alongside Phahonyothin and Mittraphap roads, the motorway aims to reduce travel times significantly, relieve heavy traffic congestion and lower logistics costs between Bangkok, its surrounding provinces and Isan.
Transport officials highlight that the route will make travel to the Northeast more convenient and boost weekend tourism. Drivers travelling from Bangkok will enjoy easier access to dining and scenic attractions along the route, particularly the stretch between Pak Chong and Lam Takhong, known for its picturesque landscapes, before continuing onward to Nakhon Ratchasima and other northeastern provinces.
During the trial period, access will be restricted exclusively to four-wheel passenger vehicles, with a speed limit of 80 kilometres per hour being strictly enforced, as construction and system installations remain ongoing along certain sections.
Authorities have requested full cooperation from motorists by strictly following traffic signs and official instructions.
Drivers are urged not to stop on the main route or the emergency shoulders unless necessary, and to park only at designated rest areas.
