The state-run Transport Company is offering a 10% discount for people who book tickets online in advance for travel between December 21^st and 27^th and between January 3^rd and 9^th, in order to ease congestion over the New Year period.

Transport Company’s president Sanlak Panwatanalikit said today (Saturday) that the “Happy New Year 2023” promotional campaign applies to travel on all bus routes operated by the company.

For passengers who hold Bor Kor Sor (Transport Company) cards and buy advance tickets for travel in December, he said that they will be awarded twice the number of points, enabling them to buy tickets at discounted fares in future.

Meanwhile, the State Railway of Thailand announced that it will add six special third-class trains during the New Year period, two on northern routes and four on north-eastern routes, in anticipation of increased passenger loads.

The special train services, using 54 carriages, will be able to carry about 8,000 passengers a day and are due to be operational between December 29^th and January 4^th. Altogether, the SRT’s train service is expected to carry 100,000 passengers a day.

The Bangkok-Nam Tok- Bangkok and Bangkok-Suan Son Pradipat-Bangkok services, which cater to tourists, will be suspended between December 30^th and January 2^nd, so their locomotives can be used on the special New Year train services.
