Thousands of people on Friday turned up to greet Their Majesties the King and Queen during their tour of Yaowaraj area, which is commonly known as Chinatown.

Their Majesties also presided over the opening of an exhibition commemorating the Chakri Dynasty. They also visited the Thienfah Foundation Hospital to pay respects to the statue of the Chinese goddess Guan Yin before meeting with well-wishers who lined Suapa and Charoen Krung roads and at Mangkorn Kamalawas Temple.

It was the Royal couple’s first visit to his old Chinese community in Bangkok whose streets and buildings have been decorated with lighting, symbolic flags in yellow and blue and cloth banners with the message “Long Live the King” hung across the streets.
