The Chalerm Phrakiat Park, located on 279 rai of land, is designed as Bangkok’s “new lung” with thousands of new trees to be planted there. It will also serve as a reminder of contributions by the late King and Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother to the Thai society.

October 13 also marks the anniversary of the passing of late King Bhumibol. Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha this morning chaired a ceremony at the Government House to mark the occasion.

Across the country, government officials and members of the public also performed merit-making ceremonies and presented alms to monks to commemorate the passing of the beloved late King of Thailand.
