The Thai Embassy in Tel Aviv has issued an advisory for Thai people to avoid travelling to Israel as they face the possibility of a mandatory 14-day house confinement as a preventive measure against the spread of the deadly COVID-19.

Citizens from Singapore, Hong Kong and Macau are also facing similar measure effective as of February 16th until further notice, even though they do not show any symptom.  They will be confined to places where they stay and will not be allowed to go to public places such as schools, hospitals, malls or shops as well as offices.

The strict restriction, however, does not apply to transit passengers.

The Thai Embassy said it will provide updates in case there is a change in the precautionary measure introduced by the Israeli Public Health Ministry.

The embassy also said that it has been keeping the Israeli Public Health Ministry updated on coronavirus developments in Thailand.
