Thailand’s U-22 soccer team leaves for SEA Games in Cambodia

Thailand’s U-22 national soccer team left Suvarnabhumi international airport this morning (Thursday), for the SEA Games in Cambodia to prepare for the opening match with Singapore on Sunday.

Led by head coach Issara Sritaro, the 18 players will be joined by two more, Jonathan Khemdee and Settasit Suvannaseat, shortly.

Speaking to reporters before departure this morning, Issara said that the team is 90% physically fit, but will be fully ready in the next few days for the opening match, adding that he is confident that his team will win, although it will be tough.

Issara also said that he hopes the Thai team will be able to take the gold media at the SEA Games.

The team’s forward, Teerasak Poeiphimai, told the media that he is glad to serve the national team in this Sea Games and will try his very best to win as many matches as possible.

He said he hopes that the Thai people will cheer the team on and offer them moral support.

The Thai team’s match schedule in the first round is as follows:

  • April 30th – Meet Singapore at Prince Stadium
  • May 6th – Meet Malaysia at Prince Stadium
  • May 8th – Meet Laos at Prince Stadium
  • May 11th – Meet Vietnam at Prince Stadium

The semi-final round is scheduled to start on May 13th at the National Stadium.

The final match is on May 16th, also at the National Stadium.
