Thailand’s first AI journalist named ‘Suthichai AI’ unveiled
Thailand’s National Electronics and Computer Technology Centre (NECTEC) and National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) have unveiled Thailand’s first artificial intelligence (AI) journalist, which is claimed to be capable of presenting and analyzing news fast and accurately, like the former editor of The Nation newspaper Suthichai Yoon.
Named Suthichai AI, the AI journalist was introduced to the media on Monday by Dr. Chai Wutiwiwatchai, director of the Information Technology Research Unit at NECTEC.
Dr. Chai said Suthichai AI was modelled after the veteran journalist, who has 50 years’ experience in journalism, with Suthichai’s style and characteristics, including his voice and body movements when he presents news in front of his audience. He is capable of news presentation in Isan and northern dialects and, eventually, southern dialects as well.
Suthichai AI announced that he is Thailand’s first AI journalist and vowed to work hard to upgrade the quality of journalism and reduce the gap in access to accurate information between urban and rural communities.
Suthichai AI said that AI will revolutionize information by presenting news and analyzing it faster, with accuracy and in a more engaging way than conventional news presentation.
He said that, in the future, he will be able to show facial emotion indicators, although he could not do it for now, but he does have ‘feelings’.
