Thailand’s daily COVID-19 deaths reach another new high of 128 on Sunday

Daily COVID-19 deaths in Thailand continue to rise, from yesterday’s 125 to 128 today (Sunday), while new infections dropped from 18,892 to 17,775, according to the COVID-19 Information Centre.

24,545 patients recovered yesterday, leaving 214,554 others still undergoing treatment in hospitals and other facilities, including 2,079 cases of lung inflammation. Hospital occupancy rate is currently 26.5%.

Between February 28th and April 15th, 131,652,372 doses of vaccines were administered across Thailand’s 77 provinces. These include 56,002,319 first doses, 50,670,905 second doses and 24,979,148 third doses.

Dr. Somsak Akksilp, director-general of the Medical Service Department, said today, of the 125 fatalities reported yesterday, 117 were over 60, had underlying diseases or were pregnant and none of them were fully inoculated.

He advised people over 60, those with underlying diseases, small children, pregnant women and those who are not fully inoculated to see a doctor immediately if they develop symptoms, to reduce the risk of serious illness or death.
