Thailand’s daily COVID-19 death toll reached another high for this year today (Monday) of 65.

Daily fatalities from COVID-19 have been on the rise this month, from 43 cases on March 1st to 65 today.

According to the COVID-19 Information Centre, 45,398 new cases, detected by rapid antigen and RT-PCR tests, were reported during the past 24 hours.

New infections confirmed by RT-PCR tests today are 21,162, including 21,060 locally-acquired cases and 102 among overseas arrivals. Additionally, there are 24,236 cases found in rapid antigen tests.

230,459 patients are currently undergoing treatment, including 1,148 cases of lung infection with 375 on ventilators.

To date, 124,328,085 doses of vaccines have been administered in Thailand, including 53,788,628 first doses, 49,735,847 second doses and 20,803,580 third doses.

Meanwhile, Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok has temporarily closed its emergency unit to non-emergency patients for renovation.

The hospital also said in its statement that the number of COVID-19 patients seeking outpatient medical services at the emergency unit, on the ground floor of the outpatient building, has been steadily increasing, making it impossible for renovation to be undertaken.

The hospital also advised patients in a stable condition, but who still need to see a doctor, to contact the hospital via the Telemedicine system and to receive medicines by post.

If they need to see a doctor in person, it advised that they see a doctor at their nearest hospital or clinic.
