The Thai Chamber of Commerce (TCC) welcomes and supports the possible easing of restrictions on certain border crossings with Cambodia, as it will help mitigate the impacts on border and further international trade following the extended closures, according to Poj Aramwattananont, chairman of the TCC and the Board of Trade of Thailand.
He was responding to the outcome of the special Thai-Cambodian General Border Committee meeting in Koh Kong of Cambodia yesterday, at which both countries discussed possible relaxation of border crossing activities for goods.
The relaxation, if confirmed, would be in Chanthaburi and Trat provinces, where tensions are low.
Poj said the move will help people resume their normal lives and enable businesses in lower-risk areas to resume their economic activity.
