Thai troops have seized complete control of Chong Anh Ma, in Nam Yuen district in the northeastern province of Ubon Ratchathani, and have hoisted the Thai flag over an area which has been the scene of a bloody battle between Thai and Cambodian forces over the past several days.
‘Army Military Force’ posted pictures and video on Facebook, featuring a gathering of Thai troops singing the Thai national anthem as the flag was raised on a bamboo pole.
The Thai troops have also cleared away an equestrian statue, built by Cambodia when they occupied the area. It was recently heavily damaged by Thai troops during the fierce fighting.
In addition to the Chon Anh Ma border pass, Thai troops have seized full control of mounts 677 and 500 hilltop strategic points, overlooking the border pass.
