Thai researchers and innovators shone at the Seoul International Invention Fair 2022 (SIIF) by winning two grand and three special prizes, Government Spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri said today (Wednesday).

A team of researchers from King Mongkut Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Nattapol Lerkkasemsan, was awarded the Grand Prize for the team’s portable negative pressure chamber, which can be used as an intensive care unit, in general or field hospitals, to cope with COVID-19 patients.

The second Grand Prize was won by a team of students fromChulalongkorn Demonstration School, namely Pitchakorn and Patthira Orapimpha and Patthawan Pibultham and their advisor, Jirasak Chitrojanarak for their back pain relief innovation, to be used with an application in dealing with office syndrome and back pain from sitting incorrectly for a prolonged peroid.

Three other innovations won Special Prizes. These included a flexible device to be attached to finger bones, from a team of researchers from the Chulabhorn Royal Academy who won the prize from the International Federation of Inventors’ Association.

A robot to help people with disabilities to walk again, which was invented by a team from Chachoengsao College of Technology, and a real-time electricity analysis system,developed by a team from the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, won special prizes from the Taiwan Invention Association and Korea Fire Institute respectively.

SIIF 2022 was held by the Korea Invention Promotion Association between November 16th and 19th.

Anucha said that Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha is proud of their achievements, which have brought fame to the country and may help improve the quality of life in Thailand.
