Water in Ping River in Chiang Mai exceeds critical level

Residents in Chiang Mai province, especially those living close to the Ping River, have been advised to monitor the water situation closely, as the level in the river has risen above the critical level, and continues to rise. Residents living along the river in Muang district have been advised to move their property to higher ground.

Heavy rainfall in Bangkok causes floods, traffic jams

Bangkok experienced heavy rainfall throughout this afternoon, causing flooding in several areas and severe traffic congestion. The Meteorological Department also reports that the three districts with the heaviest rainfall today are Lad Krabang, Bang Khun Thien and Prawet.

Thailand to enter cold season at the end of October

Thailand will enter the cold season during the fourth week of October, as the Meteorological Department reported this morning that this year’s cold season will see average temperatures lower than last year.

Bangkok residents, who have not experienced cold weather for several consecutive years may, this year, need to wear warm clothing as the temperature could drop to 17 degrees celsius in the inner city and 15 degrees celsius in the suburbs.

“Nuan” the cat chosen as Thailand’s mascot for APEC Summit

The Thai Foreign Ministry has chosen a cat, by the name of Nuan, as Thailand’s publicity mascot for the APEC Summit, to be held in Bangkok this November. The ministry said, in its Instagram post, that hosting the APEC meetings this year presents an important opportunity for Thailand to play a constructive role in formulating policies and directions for regional economic development.
