About 300 Thai Muslims and Palestinians rallied today (Saturday) in front of the Ocean Tower 2 building on Asoke Road in Bangkok, where the Israeli embassy is located, to demand an end to Israel’s bombardment of Gaza and the return of the land seized by Israel for the creation of a Palestinian state.

The protesters also condemned atrocities allegedly committed by Israeli forces in Gaza, as well as the United States for its support of Israel.

Addressing the protesters, Zaiyid Sulaiman Zaiyani, the Shiite leader in Thailand, said that Muslims here and in Gaza are the same people so, when the Palestinians in Gaza are suffering from Israeli attacks “we, the Muslims in Thailand, also suffer”.

He accused the United Nations of protecting the Jewish people, while ignoring the plight of Muslims.

Dozens of police were at the scene to keep the peace and the protest remained peaceful.
