Thai master coffee roaster wins MasterChef UK 2023

40-year-old Chariya Khattiyot, a cook originally from the north of Thailand, has just won the title of MasterChef UK 2023, after facing off 44 challengers.

Chariya spent seven years working for a national coffee chain, before opening her own coffee roasting company and eventually becoming a master coffee roaster. Chariya’s winning menu began with a Thai lotus tuile. The main course was a traditional Northern Thai ‘Khantoke’ and it was all rounded off with her take on strawberries and cream.

“This is unbelievable. It means the world, the sun, the moon and everything to me. I don’t think anything can top this. I’m so happy,” was Chariya’s reaction to her victory, as quoted by UK media.
