A 64-year old man, who suffered from kidney disease, died one day after he received his AstraZeneca vaccine jab and his daughter thinks that his death might be linked to the vaccination.

A joint team of police, health officials and rescue workers in Thailand’s northeastern province of Udon Thani was rushed to the house of Mr. Akkradet Thongkham on Saturday, after the police were alerted to his sudden death by his daughter, Ms. Wanthanee.

Ms. Wanthanee reportedly told the police that Akkradet had just finished his lunch on Saturday when he suddenly developed breathing difficulties and passed out, adding that she tried cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the victim, but to no avail.

She also told the police and health officials that her father was inoculated with the AstraZeneca vaccine on Friday and that he regularly attended dialysis sessions without any unusual symptoms.

The victim’s body has been sent to the Srinakharind Hospital in the province for an autopsy.

Health officials said that the victim’s family is entitled to claim compensation from the National Health Security Office within two years of the victim’s death.
