Thai Gov to launch new round of co-payment scheme registrations next week

People who missed out on the second phase of the 50:50 co-payment scheme, due to technical problems, can register again this week, said Kulaya Tantitemit, spokesperson for the Finance Ministry on Sunday.

She said officials at the ministry and at the state-owned Krung Thai Bank have been working together to make sure that the registration system is ready to cope with the anticipated rush of subscription applications without disruption.

She said she could not set the exact date for the new round until after January 15th, when officials will have received the latest information on people who did not subscribe in the second phase or who missed out due to other reasons.

About one million subscriptions will be available.

Under the scheme, each successful subscriber will receive 3,500 baht cash to be wired into their “Pao Tang” account for them to spend at a maximum of 300 baht a day.  The scheme has been popular among consumers and small retailers alike.
