Thirty-eight Thai citizens in Egypt have been infected with COVID-19, with only one having recovered, according to the Thai Embassy in Cairo today.

The Embassy reports that, on Saturday, it screened 220 Thais,who were scheduled to fly back to Thailand on a chartered flight today (Monday), and ten others on a waiting list.

Nineteen of them did not pass the screening and the Embassy has asked the Egyptian health ministry to monitor their health. The Embassy added that it has disinfected the Embassy premisesafter the screening process, so it can resume business as normal.

The Thai citizens still in Egypt have been advised to adhere to the health guidelines imposed by Egyptian authorities strictly, to avoid congested public places, to wear face masks when leaving home and to wash their hands with soap or sanitizer gelfrequently.
