Thai Election Commission offers rewards for valid information of election fraud

The Election Commission’s office has opened four channels through which members of the public can inform election officials of any election irregularities or cheating, such as cash giveaways or free distribution of gifts.

The office said that it will give cash rewards of up to a million baht to anyone who offers information which is useful in its investigations into alleged irregularities by political parties or candidates.

Members of the public can inform election officials through the “Ta Sapparot” app, which can be downloaded from the EC’s website, App Store or Google Play, via phone numbers, 0-21418860, 0-21418579 and 0-21418858, through the provincial election offices or Bangkok Metropolitan Administration or via the 1444 hotline.

The EC’s office has offered an assurance that the identities of informants will be kept confidential.

Meanwhile, the office started sending ballots papers, by Thailand Post’s parcel service, to Thai embassies and consular offices in 66 countries and 94 cities today (Friday).

There are two types of ballot. The green ballots are for constituency elections and the purple ballots for party-list elections.

115,139 Thais who reside abroad have registered to vote in advance.
