Temp down by 1-4 degrees in Northeast and East, PM2.5 easing in and around Bangkok

A strong cold front from China is forecast to cover the northeast and east of Thailand today and this will push temperatures down by 2-4 degrees celsius and 1-3 degrees celsius respectively.

Minimum temperatures in the northeast and north tomorrow morning are forecast to range between 13 degrees celsius and 18 degrees celsius, between 21 degrees celsius and 23 degrees celsius in the central region and between 18 degrees celsius and 23 degrees celsius in eastern provinces. In Bangkok and its vicinity, minimum temperatures are forecast to be between 23 degrees celsius and 25 degrees celsius.

The northeast and east are also expected to see strong winds and people there are advised to take care due to the change of weather, said the Meteorological Department today.

The north-easterly monsoon, currently looming over the Gulf of Thailand and the south is accelerating, causing rough seasin the southern Gulf, with waves of 1-2 metres and two metresin stormy areas. Sailors and fishermen are advised to avoid the stormy areas, said the department.

Meanwhile, air quality in and around Bangkok, this morning, has improved since yesterday.  According to the Department of Pollution Control, 42 areas have excessive levels of PM2.5,compared to 79 areas yesterday.

PM2.5 readings today range from 25.8µg/m³ to 67.6µg/m³, with the worst-hit area in Bangkok being Nong Chok, at 57.6µg/m³ and 52.7µg/m³ in the Khlong Luang district of Pathum Thani.

The Pollution Control Department said that PM2.5 pollution in and around Bangkok is gradually easing.
