Srettha condemns “inhumane attacks” on Israel

Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has condemned the attacks by the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas on Israel and ordered preparations for a possible evacuation of Thai workers in that country.

We strongly condemn this attack, which has tragically resulted in loss of innocent lives and injury to civilians. We are extremely concerned for the safety of all foreigners, including Thai nationals. We are in close contact with the relevant authorities to ensure the safety and protection of our Thai citizens in Israel, which is of utmost priority,” he said in a post on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, on late Saturday night.

In his Thai version of the post, Srettha described the attacks as “inhumane”.

The prime minister said he has ordered the Royal Thai Air Force to have C-130 military aircraft and an Airbus A-340 on stand-by for a possible immediate evacuation of Thai workers in Israel.

He said he was concerned by a report that two Thai workers have been kidnapped.

We are still waiting for verification (of the report) from Israeli authorities,” he said.

Srettha said the Thai military and medical units are on stand-by to help Thai workers.

I want every Thai citizen to come home safely,” he said.

The Thai Foreign Ministry has confirmed that at least one Thai worker was injured in the fighting.
