Liverpool is the most popular Premier League club among Thai football fans, followed by Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal, according to a recent NIDA poll.
In Thai League 1, Buri Ram United leads the popularity rankings, followed by Port FC, Chonburi FC and BG Pathum United.
The poll, released on Saturday, was conducted by the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) from Aug 10-13 among 2,500 people aged 15 and over across the country.
Among the 1,671 respondents who said they followed the Premier League, Liverpool was the most popular club, with 38.54% naming it as their favourite.
Manchester United came second with 28.31%, followed by Chelsea at 8.26%, Arsenal at 8.01% and Manchester City at 4.79%.
Another 1.32% favoured other clubs, including Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Leeds United, Everton, Nottingham Forest and Sunderland, while 10.77% said they did not particularly support any club.
Asked about their interest in the Premier League, 55.24% said they followed it occasionally, while 33.16% said they did not follow it at all and 11.60% said they followed it regularly.
Interest in Thai League 1 was lower, with 47.32% of respondents saying they did not follow the league at all. Another 47.20% said they followed it occasionally, while only 5.48% said they followed it regularly.
Among the 1,317 respondents who followed Thai League 1 either regularly or occasionally, Buri Ram United was the most popular club, with 41.76% naming it as their favourite.
Port FC ranked second with 16.55%, followed by Chonburi FC at 4.86% and BG Pathum United at 4.25%.
